Be a Detective

Have you ever hurt yourself without being aware of it? Perhaps you were building something, and in the process, scraped your shin and didn’t notice the blood until later. In this example, it’s not really that big a deal but it can become a problem if you only look after your health when you see the blood.

It’s a good idea to take stock of things now and then. You don’t have to plan a three day retreat or anything but every once in a while, make a deliberate effort to evaluate how you’re doing.

How’s your energy? Are you happy with your weight? Is your memory and your focus where you think it should be? Do you have aches or pains that you have to work around? Are you getting enough sleep? If you could wave a magic wand and make something better, what would it be? Is your health getting better or worse? If worse, where do you think you’ll be in 10 years, in 20 years? What are you ignoring? Why?

Most health problems can be resolved if they are recognized early enough. The biggest mistake is not noticing or not taking action when you do notice. Answers are usually much simpler than you’d think. They are certainly less costly than waiting for the trouble to get so big that you can’t ignore it!

What would you like to change about your health?
