The First Trip of the Year

One of many catches!

This new fishing season has begun as well as last season ended.  My eldest son and I ventured out recently to a favorite spot on the Bow and were well rewarded for our efforts.  It didn’t start out that way though.  The first run we fished seemed empty.  It had already been a tough walk to get there as we had to navigate some rather treacherous ice shelves.  We were considering this as we pondered the mile walk up to the next promising spot.  If we got into fish, the walk would be worth it, if we didn’t, well…  We eventually decided to give it a go.

It was worth it!  We hooked into about 10 healthy and feisty fish and had a great afternoon.  The walk back was something else though.  The snow and ice had softened considerably so that by the time we reached the foot of the big hill we had to climb to reach the truck, I was nearly done in.  Climbing that monster hill always makes me question why I went down it in the first place.  I always end up doing it again though.

What do you do for fun?
