The Ride to Montana Wasn't What I Expected...

But it was still good.  It was an exercise in unanticipated gifts.

We left on Friday late morning heading south through Bragg Creek; traffic was heavy but that was okay because we got a longer look at the spectacular scenery.  I’ve never seen the foothills so

As we headed west past Fernie and south to the border it started to rain quite hard.  But that was okay because the woods and flowers smell wonderful in the rain.

We had to wait an hour at the border because of the long line.  But that was okay because I got to make fun of my buddy when he kept forgetting to put his kick stand up and thought the bike was broken.

The next morning was dark and rainy as we rode down to the Libby Dam.  But that was okay because no one else was on the road and it was a very fun ride.

It finally quit raining at the end of the second day just as we got to our hotel in Cranbrook.  But that was okay because my rain gear worked great and we got to sit on the deck in the sun at the hotel and talk about deep things.

It was super windy and the riding was hard on the last leg of the journey as we traveled north up highway 22.  But that was okay because we did it and survived and it’s always good to accomplish something.

Even though we were eager to get home, we had to stop in Nanton for lunch.  But that was okay because the burger truck at the north end of town made a great gluten/carb free lunch for us.  I’d stop there again!

And really, most things are okay even if they don’t turn out as you first expected.

What adventures do you have planned for this summer?

We just got back from camping in the beautiful Cypress Hills - Elkwater. Not too hot and not too cold! Had a wonderful time in God's great creation! Got home and got sick from trying to go back on gluten to please my GI specialist but that was OK because I will be seeing Dr Lees ASAP!! ( and gluten got the boot!)
