Tune Your Brain

Medicine and health research is finally beginning to get a sniff of what chiropractors have known all along; your brain and nervous system run your body.  A healthy brain means a healthy body and a healthy body means a healthy brain.

Have you noticed that brain research is in the news more often these days?  Are you thinking more about your brain health?  Are you concerned about losing your sharpness as you get older?  It’s not inevitable you know.  There are many things you can do to reduce the likelihood of these things.  One of them is to tune your brain using a computer-based device called the Interactive Metronome (IM).

The IM is a relatively simple device that can produce profound results.  It works by generating a steady beat called a reference tone that you try and match by tapping a trigger.  The computer then measures how close to or far from the beat you are.  We can then compare those numbers to where you should be.  The IM is then used to correct the problem in a similar fashion but using guide sounds to provide feedback about when and how you missed the beat.  The more you practice, the better you get.

Technically speaking what all this does is improve your brain’s processing speed and motor planning and sequencing ability.  Practically, what you’ll notice is increased capacity to handle stress, improved memory, better balance, coordination, focus and concentration.  It’s something that everyone can benefit from and it’s even fun to do.

We’ve been using it for a couple of years now with inspiring and sometimes dramatic results.  Scott is our in-house expert and he will take you through your training.  Some people improve with as little as 2 1/2 hours of training while others need up to 10.  If you’re curious for more information have a look at the IM web site (link).
